Building Trust with Social Media


Social media has become a crucial part of the business face. Customers use social media as a way to become aware of local businesses and to learn more about them. If you’ve built a Facebook page but don’t ever use it, it’s probably doing you more of a disservice than not having one at all. Remember, first impressions matter! When your page looks good and is kept up-to-date, this instills confidence in potential customers. 

What you get out of your social media presence depends on what you put into it. But what if you’d rather do what you love doing (you know-the business that you run?) than delve into the rabbit-hole that is social media? Using the following 4 basic tips for your Facebook presence will build your brand awareness and establish trust with potential customers without taking up all your time.

  1. Use properly fitting cover photo and profile photo that have the your logo on them. 
  2. Fill in all the fields in your About section. Including current contact information: email, phone number, and website. Be sure to include your business hours and a description of the business services.
  3. Customers use social media as a way to connect directly with businesses. If you aren’t a regular user of Facebook, be sure to create an automatic response in the message section of your page that directs the customer to contact you using your preferred method. For example: Hello and thank you for contacting YOUR BUSINESS NAME! We are so glad you found us. We aren’t available via Facebook currently but most answers can be found on our website: www. YOUR WEBSITE .com. Feel free to email us at YOUR EMAIL ADDRESS or call us at YOUR PHONE NUMBER

  4. Regular posting! We encourage you to post 1 time per week as a basic rule of thumb. Keep it simple! Customers LOVE to see what you are up to, here are some ideas: Post before and after images of your work -be sure to include a brief caption using non-technical terms to explain what your audience is looking at. Post your activities in the community- even when they are not work-related. And of course posts that describe the kind of work that your business does, is capable of doing, and why you do what you do.  

Of course this is a super simplified way to run your social media presence, but doing this will boost the confidence levels of your potential clientele significantly more than doing nothing at all.
